GRANVILLE – Seek-No-Further Cidery, based in Granville, Ohio, was recognized at the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP) with a gold medal for their cider, After the GoldRush.
The 17th annual GLINTCAP, held May 17-19 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is the world's largest cider competition, attracting 1,400 entries from cider makers across the globe. Seek-No-Further Cidery's After the GoldRush cider was among the gold medal recipients in the “modern dry” category, which judges ciders for their wine-like quality, refreshing character and aromatic notes.
After the GoldRush is a single-variety cider, made from GoldRush apples sourced from Branstool Orchards in Utica, Ohio and Hugus Fruit Farm in Rushville, Ohio.
“This was my first time working with the GoldRush variety of apple,” Seek-No-Further’s cider maker Garrett Huber said. “It has a tiny bit of residual sweetness, which brings out the fruit flavor, while maintaining as a dry cider. If anyone came into the cidery saying they are a dry white wine drinker, After the GoldRush was the first thing I gave them.”
Lauren Ours, Seek-No-Further’s bar manager, describes After the GoldRush as “on the drier side but still a little bit tart,” she said. “It doesn’t take all the moisture out of your mouth. It was my favorite of our ciders for a while.”
Seek-No-Further Cidery's success did not end with their gold medal. They also garnered silver medals for two more exceptional creations: Seeker, a semi-dry cider made with wildflower honey from Latshaw Apiaries in Alexandria, Ohio, and A-Frame, an oak-aged semi-sweet cider made with dark maple syrup from Winding Trails Farm in Utica, Ohio.
Notably, Seek-No-Further Cidery was the sole Ohio cidery to achieve a gold medal or higher at GLINTCAP this year, underscoring their unparalleled dedication to producing top-tier ciders in the state of Ohio.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have our ciders recognized at GLINTCAP," said Trent Beers, owner and operator of Seek-No-Further Cidery. "This achievement is a testament to the hard work, passion and expertise of our team. We are grateful for the support of Branstool Orchards, Hugus Fruit Farm, Latshaw Apiaries and Winding Trails Farm, whose exceptional ingredients played an integral role in the success of these ciders."
