Centerburg 6, East Knox 0
Shelby Morris spun a gem for Centerburg (12-2, 6-0) over East Knox (9-2, 2-2), in which she pitched a complete game one-hit shutout to take a 6-0 win on April 14.
Centerburg scored two runs in the first, two runs in the third and a run each in the fourth and fifth innings.
Morris was lights out in the pitching circle, and also at the plate. She went 2-for-2 with a homer, a double, three RBIs and two runs. In pitching, she went seven innings with one hit allowed and five strikeouts.
Brooklyn Pankuch was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Chesnee Fairall also had a solid day with 2-for-4 showing, including a double.
Shanda Melick had the lone hit for the Bulldogs, going 1-for-3 with a single.
Maddy Cotsamire picked up the loss for the Bulldogs, going five innings, allowing five earned runs, two walks and six strikeouts.
River Valley 4, Northmor 2
Northmor (5-4, 3-3) had a tough time putting the bat on the ball against River Valley (10-3, 5-1) on April 14, with the Golden Knights taking a 4-2 loss in a tight battle with the Vikings.
Both teams scored a run in the first and second innings to make it a 2-2 game, but the Vikings tacked on a run in the third to take the lead and then another run in the sixth inning as insurance.
Northmor only had two hits in the game, both by McKenna VanDyke. VanDyke went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Taylor Cantrell had an RBI in the game.
Shelby Cooper pitched 5.2 innings and pitched well, despite taking the loss. She allowed two earned runs, four runs allowed total, with two walks and a pair of strikeouts. Kate Kissling pitched 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
Licking Valley 1, Fredericktown 0
Fredericktown (3-11, 0-7) and Licking Valley (3-5, 1-4) were locked into a pitching duel on April 14, and while Morgan Yoder was outstanding for the Freddies, Licking Valley was able to squeak by with a 1-0 victory.
Yoder pitched six innings and allowed only two hits and an unearned run, while striking out nine batters and walking none.
Fredericktown only had two hits on the day. Cherish Auker went 1-for-2 and Chloe Wells went 1-for-3 with both hits being singles.
Triad 20, Mount Gilead 9
Greer Simpson had a great day at the plate for Mount Gilead (4-11, 0-7) with a pair of hits including a homer, but it wasn’t enough as Triad (3-8, 0-6) piled on the offense to take a 20-9 win on April 15.
Triad had a 4-2 lead after one inning and went up 8-3 after two innings. The Cardinals scored three times in the third and Mount Gilead answered with a run. In the fourth inning, Triad scored four more times and then put three more runs on the board in the fifth inning. Also in the fifth inning, the Indians scored five times, but Triad scored two more runs in the sixth to take a lopsided high-scoring victory.
Mount Gilead had 12 hits in the game and Triad had 17 hits. The Indians were led by Simpson, who was 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Maddy Damron had a 1-for-3 day with an RBI. Kierra Main went 2-for-3 with a double. Lindsey Ayers was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Alexis Staats was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Ayers took the loss pitching one inning, allowing six earned runs, four walks and five hits.
Danville 9, Fredericktown 3
Ruby Bartok was a force at the plate for Danville (10-5, 4-4), belting a homer and driving in three RBIs to lead the Blue Devils to a 9-3 win over Fredericktown (3-11, 0-7).
Danville scored a run in the second and third innings to go up 2-0, and then Fredericktown scored a run in the fourth. The Blue Devils followed with a four-run fourth and then added three more runs in the fifth. Fredericktown scored twice in the seventh, but the game was already out of reach.
Bartok went 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored. Emily Weckesser also had a strong day with a 3-for-3 showing with a double and two runs scored. Grace Gronberg was 2-for-4 with a double in the win.
For the Freddies, Chloe Wells was 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Ronnie Hess was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Taylor Brown was 1-for-3 and Jesenia Montalvo was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Gronberg picked up the win for Danville, going six innings with one earned run, five strikeouts and a walk.
For Fredericktown, Morgan Yoder pitched 1.2 innings, allowing no runs, one walk and striking out three batters. Riley Rine pitched 4.1 innings, allowing six earned runs and 10 hits.
