Mount Vernon 9, Westerville North 0

Kayden Packard and Konnor Daughriety were lights out on the mound against Westerville North (1-2) on April 8, spinning a combined shutout 9-0 win for the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets (7-1, 3-1) to continue their hot start. 

Mount Vernon jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first and never looked back, tacking on two runs in the third and fourth innings and then another in the fifth inning. Offensively, Daughriety led the Jackets with a 3-for-4 day including a run scored. Caden Rowland went 2-for-4 with a double and a run, and Cash Finnell was 2-for-3 with two runs.

Daughriety picked up the win, going five innings and giving up one hit while striking out six. Packard pitched two innings with four strikeouts, a walk, and one hit allowed.

East Knox 12, Northmor 2

The East Knox Bulldogs (3-2, 1-1) had an explosion of offense and benefitted from a highlight-reel performance on the hill and at the plate by Bryar Householder in a 12-2 win over conference rival Northmor (6-1, 4-1) on April 10, to hand the Golden Knights their first loss of the season.

Ahead 1-0 after one, the Bulldogs scored five runs in the second and another run in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. In the second inning, Mitch Williams, Carson Steinmetz, Cole Delaughder and Landon Spearman all had RBIs.

In the fourth inning, EKscored three more runs, but Northmor got on the board for two runs to make it a 10-2 game. After a scoreless fifth inning, East Knox finished off the game with a pair of runs in the sixth inning for a 10-run win.

The Bulldogs had 16 hits on the day and held Northmor to only four hits. Householder allowed two runs, both unearned over six innings with 10 strikeouts. At the dish, he was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. He also came around to score three times and stole two bases.

Landon Spearman also had a solid day at the plate with a 3-for-4 showing including a double and an RBI. Ryan Morton went 3-for-4 with all singles, scoring twice and knocking in an RBI. Dylan Reed also had a multi-hit game with a 2-for-4 day, scoring twice and knocking in a run. 

Drew Hammond led the offense for the Northmor squad going 2-for-3. 

Cardington-Lincoln 11, Danville 1

Cardington-Lincoln (2-4, 1-2) had a blowout 11-1 win over Danville (1-4, 0-2) on April 10, thanks to a solid pitching performance by Wyatt Wade, who helped out his own cause with three RBIs.

The Pirates started with a three-run first and a one-un second to make it a 4-0 game, and six more in the third, before the Blue Devils put up a run to make it 10-1. Cardington-Lincoln tacked on one more run in the fourth and took a 10-run victory in a mercy-rule-shortened game.

Wade pitched five innings and allowed one unearned run while striking out four, and walking three batters. He went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and had three RBIs while scoring once. Wade also stole a base.

Denton Garrison had a 2-for-3 day with three runs scored. Kaiden Beach put up some good numbers on offense going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored, while also stealing a base. 

Mount Gilead 6, Danville 5

Mount Gilead (3-5, 1-1) and Danville (1-4, 0-2) played a tie ballgame heading into the final inning when Gage Baker knocked in a run on a groundout to break the tie in a walk-off 6-5 win on April 11.

Mount Gilead opened the game with a four-run first inning, highlighted by a leadoff double by Baker, who then scored on an RBI double by Nick Garvey. Kamryn Martinez then singled to knock in the second run of the game. Mike Reid followed with a double to left field knocking in Martinez to make it 3-0. Reid came around to score later in the inning on a Mason Barnum single.

Down 5-1, Danville battled back and scored two runs in the fifth on two homers and three RBIs by Ryan Lucas. Lucas was the star for the Blue Devils with a 3-for-4 day including two dingers, three RBIs, and three runs.

Mount Gilead was led by Baker who went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
