Gilmore wins, LeMaster second in Harding Classic wrestling

At the Marion Harding Classic wrestling invitational, Dec. 28-29, two local schools placed in the Top 10 and two of their wrestlers got to the finals, with Highland’s Cael Gilmore winning at 138 lbs. and Caylan LeMaster of Centerburg finishing second at 157 lbs. Gilmore defeated Michael Fister of Northridge, 3-0 and LeMaster lost a tough 9-4 decision to Ahmad Deifallah of Dublin Scioto. 

In team scoring, Highland placed seventh of 32 scoring teams with 131.5 points.

St. Edwards won it with 262.5. Also competing were Centerburg – ninth with 105.0 points, Northmor – 25th with 27.0 and Mount Gilead – 29th with 10.0.

Top local finishers in addition to Gilmore and LeMaster were fourth-place finishers Brendan Lester (Highland) at 113, Caleb Wetzel (Highland) at 132, Remington Baker (Highland) at 150, Ashton Clark (Northmor) at 175 and Charlie Sargent (Centerburg) at 215. Tanner Holt (Centerburg) finished fifth at 190.
