Mitchell wins, Jackets place sixth at Hackett Classic

Mount Vernon’s Mason Mitchell won at 150 lbs. and the Yellow Jackets finished in sixth among 10 scoring teams, at the Paul Hackett Classic at Hamilton Township High School in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday. Madison Comprehensive won with 218.0 points and Mount Vernon earned 129.5.

In addition to Mitchell, top Mount Vernon finishers included Preston Hempfield, third at 113 lbs.; Josiah Colon, third at 120 lbs.; Dalton Curtis, second at 132 lbs.; Cam Firebaugh, third at 144 lbs. and Hayden Higgins, fourth at 157 lbs.

Becker wins, Northmor eighth at Big Walnut Invitational

Northmor’s Cowin Becker won at 126 lbs. and the Golden Knights finished in eighth place among 12 teams that earned points at the Big Walnut Wrestling Invitational Saturday, at Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Ohio. Olentangy Berlin won with 268 points and The Golden Knights earned 124.5 points.

In addition to Becker, top Northmor placers included Cohan Hurst, fourth at 106 lbs.; Brady Carr, fourth at 120 lbs.; Carson Campbell, third at 138 lbs. and Ashton Clark, second at 175 lbs.

Highland places fourth at Kilted Klassic

The Highland boys wrestling team placed fourth (2 points from third) in a very competitive field at this year's Jeremy Ammons Kilted Klassic. The team won 39 matches and lost 28 overall, with every Fighting Scot winning at least one match.

Top Highland finishers included second-place finishers Konner Blaney at 106 lbs.; Cael Gilmore at 138 lbs.; Rem Baker at 150 lbs. and Ethan Taylor at 190 lbs. Third-place finishers for Highland included Caleb Wetzel at 132 lbs and Landon Pedigo at 285.

Freddies place 10th at Clear Fork Invitational

Fredericktown wrestlers earned a 10th place finish at Saturday’s Clear Fork Invitational at Clear Fork High School in Bellville, Ohio. The Freddies finished with 85.5 points and Canton South beat 17 scoring foes while accumulating 205.5 points.

Top Fredericktown finishers included Mason Hoefflich, third at 190 lbs. and Lucas Herbst, second at 285.
