The Rotary Club of Kokosing Valley is inviting residents to participate in its first Ugly Sweater 5K Race/Walk.

According to a press release, the event will occur on Sunday, Nov. 27. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. The race is scheduled to start at noon. The route will begin in the Knox County Chamber of Commerce parking lot at 501 S. Main St. in Mount Vernon and will follow the Kokosing Trail with views of Mount Vernon parks. 

Entrants are invited but not required to wear an ugly sweater for the race. Prizes and medals will be awarded. Bathrooms will be available on site.

"This event is to promote overall community health, high school scholarships, peace and conflict resolution assemblies, and environmental impacts in Knox County," the release said.

The health fair is provided through local health and wellness organizations. They will have helpful information and goodies to give away during the event. In addition, attendees will receive health fair freebies, and cookies and hot chocolate will be served after the race. 

Registration costs $30 for entrants aged 15 and over and $20 for entrants aged 14 and younger. Those who pre-register online will receive a T-shirt. All ages, strollers and dogs (leashed) are welcome to participate. 

The Rotary Club of Kokosing Valley seeks sponsors for the event at $250, $500, $1,000 and $2,000 levels with various package benefits.
