MOUNT VERNON – Gov. Mike DeWine visited Knox County Career Center (KCCC) on Wednesday morning.
DeWine met with students in computer network technology, precision machining, health technologies and cosmetology. He talked with students about their experience at KCCC, the industry credentials they were earning and their plans upon graduation. DeWine also spoke with each lab instructor about what students were doing in their respective programs and about their industries.
Business partners from Ariel and Kokosing shared their experiences with him regarding students on early job placement, the impact of career center graduates in their workplace, and how they collaborate with different programs at KCCC.
KCCC administrators, along with Mayor Matt Starr and Knox County Commissioners Thom Collier and Bill Pursel, had the opportunity to speak with DeWine as well about career technical education.
“We were so glad to have Gov. DeWine visit our school, interact with our students and staff, and for him to hear about the great opportunities in career tech education and in Knox County,” said Kathy Greenich, KCCC superintendent.
