MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found six guilty after arraignments and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Aug. 22. 

Jacob Stotts, 28, Mount Vernon, domestic violence, $150 fine, 180 days in jail, with all time suspended, 2 years' probation and must enroll in Moral Reconation Therapy and/or the court’s Thinking for a Change program.

Crystal Levings, 42, Mount Vernon, operating a vehicle while under the influence, $500 fine, 180 days in jail, with 168 days suspended, 2 years of community control and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended operator’s license for 1 year.

Keith Brandenburg, 37, Mount Vernon, operating a vehicle while under the influence, $700 fine, 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, 2 years of community control and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended operator’s license for 2 years; and resisting arrest, 90 days in jail, with 70 days suspended, 2 years of probation.

Ben Woolison, 35, Gambier, operating a vehicle while under the influence and resisting arrest, $700 fine, 180 days in jail, with 160 days suspended, 2 years of community control and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment, and suspended operator’s license for 2 years.

Kurtis Walker, 30, Westerville, having physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and resisting arrest, $500 fine, 180 days in jail, with 177 days suspended, 2 years of community control and must attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended operator’s license for 1 year.

Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Hess case. Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.

16 found guilty, 2 sentencings

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found 16 guilty and sentenced two people after arraignments and hearings were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Aug. 23.

Kevin Schaefer, 34, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, hunting deer without a permit, $75 fine.

Chelsea Fown-Hoos, 31, Martinsburg, speeding, $75 fine.

Corinna Wisecarver, 48, Frazeysburg, speeding in a School Zone, $100 fine.

Isaiah Speelman, 22, Hilliard, speeding in a School Zone, $50 fine.

Branden Gamble, 25, Mount Vernon, domestic violence, 180 days in jail, with 120 days suspended, 2 years' probation and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete the court’s Hands Down program.

Anna King, 29, Fredericktown, operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, $500 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 172 days suspended, 2 years of community control and must attend and complete a 72-hour driver intervention program, and suspended operator’s license for 1 year; and endangering children, 180 days in jail, with 172 days suspended, and 2 years' probation.

Travis Hauger, 31, Fredericktown, failing to stop after an accident, $700 fine, serve 180 days in jail, with 170 days suspended, 2 years' probation and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete the court’s Thinking for a Change program, and suspended operator’s license for 1 year; and making a false alarm, 180 day in jail, with 170 days suspended, and 2 years' probation.

Steven Goligoski, 29, Cardington, resisting arrest, 15 days in jail.

Lexus Robinson, 28, Mount Vernon, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia, 10 days in jail.

Sonia Shephard, 42, Hinckley, operating a vehicle while under the influence, $1,000 fine, 75 days in jail, and suspended operator’s license for 3 years.

James Schaade, 33, Mansfield, driving without a valid license, 7 days in jail, with all time suspended. 

Cathy Wentzel, 70, Howard, failing to obey a traffic control device, $25 fine.

Calvin Canter, 30, Mount Vernon, assault, 180 days in jail, with 150 days suspended, 2 years' probation and must complete a drug and alcohol assessment and complete the court’s Hands Down program.

Zachary King, 31, Mount Vernon, failing to comply with lawful order on July 12, 2022; 30 days in jail, and operator’s license was suspended for 180 days.

Assistant Director of Law Brittany Whitney represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Caudill and Canter cases, and the State of Ohio in the Goad and Gamble cases.

Director of Law Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon and the State of Ohio in the remaining cases.

2 found guilty 

MOUNT VERNON – Judge John Thatcher found two guilty after court trials were held in the Mount Vernon Municipal Court on Aug. 24.

Taylor Martin, 19, Mount Vernon, driving under an FRA suspension, $250 fine; and driving with fictitious plates, $50 fine.    

James Looney, 31, Butler, driving under an FRA suspension, $300 fine. 

Law Director Rob Broeren represented the City of Mount Vernon in the Martin case and the State of Ohio in the Looney case.
