Whether we live in a small town, the country or the inner city, we all do amazing things to support our families with what we have. We have endured the terrible stress and disruptions of the last three years. Lately, we have all felt the financial crunch, especially with high gas prices. And for some families, this is really difficult. 

However, while we pay high prices at the gas pump, oil companies are gouging prices and reporting record profits. Rather than lowering gas prices, their record profits go into stock buybacks designed to raise their stock prices. Further, some Republican politicians are using higher prices to try to divide us. They pretend that Biden is to blame for everything, ignoring the impact of the pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the fact that inflation is a world-wide problem. They want to blame someone else, but don’t offer solutions of their own.    

Thankfully, we are now paying less for gas, and the overall economy is strong on so many fronts like higher wages, deficit reductions, and the lowest unemployment in 50 years. Democrats in Congress are fighting for everyday workers. They are on the brink of passing the Inflation Reduction Act including strong investments in green energy. These actions are moving us closer to a future where oil prices no longer determine the quality of our lives. By voting for Democrats, we can continue to support fairness, health, and a bright future for our children. Imagine that every parent can breathe easily knowing that their living wage will support the basic needs of their family.
