COLUMBUS – The Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center of Knox County has received state support to help fund the expansion of its operations.

State Representative Shawn Stevens (R-Sunbury) announced the Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center will receive $550,000 to go toward the $1.8 million cost to purchase and renovate a new facility in Mount Vernon.

“The Alcohol and Drug Freedom Center has been in operation for more than 40 years,” said Stevens. “They provide a service to the community by promoting growth and wellness in Knox County by offering services to deal with addiction and mental health. I’m pleased to see state funding to help them in this pursuit.”

The new facility will house outpatient treatment programs, case management programs and school-based prevention programs. The specific objectives include increasing workforce, expanding child and adolescent programming, creating physical space for children, adolescents and women, increasing mental health and psychiatry services, peer support and intensive services for high-risk adults.
