MOUNT VERNON – After many months of searching, the board of directors of Interchurch Social Services announced the appointment of Carolyn Fergus to the position of executive director.

Fergus spent 35 years serving in the public safety sector. She was with the Ohio State Patrol for three years, Knox County Sheriff’s Office for 16 years and 16 years with the Dublin Police Department. Her career advanced from dispatcher to 911 supervisor. Fergus is a graduate of the American Baptist Churches of Ohio Lay Pastor Training Academy.

A lifelong resident of Knox County, she currently resides in Fredericktown.

Fergus assumed duties on June 13, working with outgoing executive Joy Harris through the end of the month.

Harris said, “I am pleased with the decision made by the board. I have every confidence in Carolyn and her ability to lead this organization. I am sure the staff and community will give her the same support that I have been blessed with over the years.”
