The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for Knox County for Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. when it forecasts a heat index of 106 degrees.
Though Tuesday’s heat advisory was canceled, the dangerously hot conditions are still forecast for Wednesday for Knox, Crawford and Richland Counties. The excessive heat warning for the three counties includes the cities of Bucyrus, Galion, Crestline, Mansfield, and Mount Vernon.
The agency warns that hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. Increasing the impact of the hot weather are lingering power outages and clean-up efforts.
“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the National Weather Service warning said. “Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
