In Knox Babe Ruth league action last week, Elks stampeded over Kiwanis, and Griffin Insurance crashed over Moose.

Elks pour on the offense in 23-5 win over Kiwanis

The Elks dominated from the opening frame in a 23-5 blowout victory.

The Elks opened the game with a seven-run first inning and a five-run second inning and were up 12-2 after two. The Elks scored another run in the third and Kiwanis tacked on a pair of runs to make it a 13-4 game, but the Elks exploded for a 10-run fourth to put the game far out of reach.

The Elks piled on 12 hits compared to six for Kiwanis, but Kiwanis was especially hampered defensively with seven errors.

Taking the win was Jacob Morrison, who pitched two innings, allowing two earned runs and three hits and striking out four.

Camren Schonauer was the top offensive performer for the Elks with a 3-for-4 showing with three runs, two RBIs and three steals. Draven Elliott also went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Brock Bailey had a 1-for-3 day with a double, three RBIs, three runs and two walks.

Kiwanis was led by Cameron Hill with a 2-for-2 day with two RBIs. 

Griffin Insurance knocks off Moose, 15-8

Griffin Insurance had a big third inning and piled on 16 hits for the game to take a 15-8 win over Moose last week.

The game was tied 2-2 when Griffin Insurance went on an offensive onslaught with an eight-run third inning. Moose tacked on a run to make it 10-3, and both team scored a pair of runs in the fourth to make it a 12-5 game going into the fifth. Griffin added three insurance runs, and Moose was only able to manage three runs in comeback mode.

Caleb Youngman pitched three innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out seven batters in the win.

Leading the Griffin offense was Bryce Kreger, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a walk. Mason Holt and Carson Meyer each went 2-for-4 with a double, with Meyer also driving in a pair of runs. The Griffin squad went crazy on the base paths with 19 steals.

Moose was led by Vincent Kizer, who went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Elks beat Moose, 18-8

The Elks once again had a massive offensive output with 18 runs but managed to do it on only five hits with nine RBIs, aided immensely by walking 18 times.

The Elks went up 8-3 in the first and after a scoreless second inning piled on five more runs to go up 13-5. Moose scored three fourth-inning runs to make it 13-8, but the Elks finished strong with a five-run fifth to secure the 10-run win.

Zac Clow went 1-for-1 with an RBI double, four RBIs, four walks and two runs. Skylar Lawrence went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, two walks and four runs scored. Brock Bailey also had two RBIs on a 1-for-2 day where he also walked twice.

Moose had seven hits overall and was led by CJ Fisher, who went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs.
