MOUNT VERNON – The Food For The Hungry board has announced a summer grant opportunity directed to reach churches, agencies and organizations that provide summer food distribution programs to fill the gap for families with children home from school.
“Many in our community worry about how they are going to put food on the table for their children during the summer months, but thankfully the love and selflessness of Knox County provides a way to negate that worry," said Executive Director Lisa Mazzari. "Food For The Hungry is once again honored to be able to offer these grants because of this generosity.”
Organizations may request funds for programs that will provide food assistance and distribution up to $2,000 through Sep. 30. Groups that provide assistance outside the traditional Mid-Ohio Food Bank income guidelines are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications are available at foodforthehungrycares.org. The application process is open from Monday, May 2, through Monday, May 16, at noon. Awards will be announced no later than Friday, May 27.
For more information on the grant application or process, contact Mazzari at 740-398-0569 or Lisam.ffth@gmail.com.
