Ohio’s Hospice is offering scholarships to become a state tested nursing assistant (STNA), a news release said.

The scholarship covers a 4-week course and test, which includes classroom instruction and clinical work in a long-term care facility, the nonprofit organization said.

Participants will be paid during training, the news release said, After completing the STNA test, students are eligible for a permanent job with higher pay,

In order to qualify for the scholarship, applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, pass a drug and nicotine test, pass a background check, have been vaccinated for COVID-19 or have a religious exemption and be willing to work a flexible schedule, the news release said.

"Ohio’s Hospice is seeking individuals who reflect its values – servant leadership, compassion, kindness and honesty – and who are committed to helping patients and their loved ones celebrate life’s stories," the news release said.

 Scholarship recipients have three months to complete the four-week course and pass the state test.
