The Homer Public Library recently received $24,508 through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 Outreach Grant, which will bring in a variety of new resources to benefit those who use the library.

According to information provided by the library, the program was supported by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services funds granted through the State Library of Ohio.

The grant will provide new courses, books on CD, Launchpads, Wonderbooks and digitally recorded books for people of all ages. Also, five of the library computers that patrons use have been updated. The library has also bought programming for the Club Invention after-school program through the National Inventors Hall of Fame, which is for students in the Northridge Local School District and children in the area who are home-schooled.

Another area that the grant helped the library was the addition of new whiteboard-top tables for the children’s and maker area. There is also a new full-spectrum laser engraver in the Makerspace, and the grant also allowed the library to buy supplies to use with the engraver when classes begin.

On March 17, there will be an open house to show all the additions that the grant has provided for the library, running from 4-6 p.m. All ages are welcome for the event.
