The Mount Vernon News welcomes submissions for general events, sports, club, school, church and other community news in Knox County.
Submissions can be made by email, postal mail or fax. You may also drop them by in person.
Press releases and community news should arrive at least three days before the target publication date (a week is even better). For example, to publish in the April 9 edition, it should arrive by end of day (5 p.m.) April 6.
Photos are welcome and should include a list (left to right) of everyone pictured. If it is a large group, just identify the group. Example: “Members of ACME Association met Jan. 1 at the Knox Theater.” Best formats for email are JPG or PNG, and they should be attached separately.
Remember to include the five W's: who, what, when, where and why. Text can be submitted in the body of the email or as an attached text, Word or PDF file.
Also include your name, address and phone number so we can call if we have questions.
Letters to the editor should deal with issues and be 400 words or less. Thank-you letters and letters for declared candidates will not be accepted. No letters will be accepted concerning pending court cases. Letter writers are limited to one letter every 30 days; exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Submit letters to the editor the same as press releases:

- Fax: 740-397-5333
