MOUNT VERNON – Mary E. Franz, 90, of Mount Vernon died Nov. 12, 2021, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Mount Vernon to Marion and Antoinette (Main) Mason. She was a graduate of Utica High School and the Mount Vernon Business School and was a member of the Utica Presbyterian Church.
Mary loved to help others. Whether it was family or friends, she was always available to do whatever was needed to make others’ lives better. Family was extremely important to Mary, and she had a way to make each one feel so special. When she wasn’t spending time with family, she spent many hours as a volunteer for the Ohio Eastern Star Home.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathy (Michael) Banbury of Camden, S.C., Elizabeth Nesbit (James) Brown and Karen (Matthew) Cherup; and one son, Terry (Leslie) Franz, all of Mount Vernon, OH. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Doug Banbury, Kim Banbury, Jennifer Ruark, Nick Franz, Tony Franz, Alex Franz, Brad Nesbit, Jaime Nesbit, Jon Brown, Nick Brown, Katie Green and Kevin Cherup; 20 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Paul Gallagher; and many nieces and nephews and special friends.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Raymond, who passed away Nov. 4, 2007; two sisters, her identical twin Martha Nesbit and Carol Gallagher; one brother, Roger Mason; one grandson, Benjamin Brown; two great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Johnny Nesbit.
Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home - Lasater Chapel. Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. with Dallas Waggle officiating. Burial will follow at Moundview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kindred Hospice, Ohio Eastern Star Home or Center for Cancer Care at Knox Community Hospital.
