MOUNT VERNON – Ariel-Foundation Park will bring the Halloween Hootenanny to life from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 on The Lakes side of the park. This event is sponsored by Almost Famous Sweets & Sodas and Carpenter Dental Group, both of Mount Vernon.

Local businesses and organizations are invited to set up a booth space at the event to pass out candy, host a game, craft or other activity. It is free to participate. Booths will be outdoors and spread out for COVID safety. Those who would like to participate, email marketing@mountvernonartsconsortium.org or call 740-398-6603.

The afternoon will also include Ski-High DJ, Knox Rocks treasure hunt, costumed characters and storytellers. Storytellers will weave animated, family-friendly spooky tales, and costumed characters will be greeting guests and will be available for photo opportunities.

Knox Rocks, a popular community group organized by Ann Weisent, will be hiding painted art rocks with a Halloween theme throughout the park and in the rock garden. Families are encouraged to treasure hunt by finding the rocks and taking them to an appropriate downtown merchant to receive a special treat.

Ariel-Foundation Park will hand out coupons from Paragraphs Bookstore or Wendy’s to each child in attendance, while supplies last. Guests younger than 13 years old and their guardians are encouraged to wear costumes; however, adults are not permitted to wear Halloween masks or have face paint. Ariel-Foundation Park is a family destination; creative costumes are encouraged and should be in good taste.

General parking will be located at Schnormeier Event Center and Urton Clock House; guests will need to walk to The Lakes. Accessible parking only will be around The Lakes. Guests can also enjoy a food truck at the event.

This event is free. In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled. Follow Ariel-Foundation Park on Facebook for all of the latest information or visit www.arielfoundationpark.org.
