GAMBIER – On Saturday, Oct. 16, Beekeeper Sarah from My Bee Supply will present a demo on beekeeping in the Outdoor Annex of the Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County from 10-10:30 a.m. Cider and snacks will be provided, according to a press release.
The event is sponsored by the Kenyon College Department of Dance and Office for Community Partnerships in conjunction with My Bee Supply Company and the Public Library of Mount Vernon & Knox County. The events are for families and kids of all ages. Be prepared to get your waggle on and learn about how bees use dance to communicate. "It's going to BEE awesome," the release stated.
Then, on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 1-1:30 p.m. and from 2-2:30 p.m., choreographer and beekeeper Julie Brodie's dance team will present two performances of "Apis Ballare" a fun, interactive dance-along ballet at Riverview Park, located at 400 S. Main St. in Mount Vernon (across from the Wright Center).
"The goal of this program is to engage the community with environmental issues through art and science," said Julie Brodie, professor of dance at Kenyon, who is already planning future collaborations with colleagues focused on ecological education outreach.
