CENTERBURG – Odell Ball, 84, of Centerburg went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 8, 2021, where he was reunited with his loving wife, Pauline, of 60 years, who proceeded him in death on Oct. 31, 2014. Also, a son, David, and a grandson, David Allen; a special niece, Phyllis Cook, who was “daddy’s little girl”; a truly loving sister, Etta Salyers, who he made beans and cornbread for a few days before her passing; and many other siblings. Odell was a devoted husband, father and grandpa who truly loved all of his family.
He is survived by 11 children, Dan (Mariann) of Reynoldsburg, Dallas (Leslie) of Centerburg, Brenda (Robert) Walton of St. Louisville, Jon of Westerville, Joan (Dennis) McFarland of Fallsburg, Robert (Nicole) of Mount Gilead, Joey of Groveport, Austin of Marion, and Kevin, Kurt and Bethany, all of the home. Odell also had compassion for children who had no families or homes. That was his mission in life, to help little ones who had nobody to care for them. Odell and Pauline had over 120 foster children, and they adopted eight of them. He had 18 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and two special nieces, Rita and Rhonda, who he called his angels who called him every Sunday for a little update on their lives, prayer, music but most important, loving memories. He is survived by three siblings, Johnny of California, Dean (Penny) of Newark and Carol Sue (Chuck) McClary of Florida.
Odell worked in the construction field all of his life and was a member of the operating engineers. He was one of the best grader men around, and he finished his career with Trucco Construction, where he still considers Mark Trucco one of his best friends. Odell was such a strong and faithful believer and a prayer warrior. He will be missed by everyone who loved him.
The family will receive visitors from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Sunbury. A funeral service in Odell’s name will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, with Pastor Michael Simon officiating. Burial will then follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Johnstown.

Don’t mourn for me because I am now home. To stand with the Lord and sit by his throne. Where I have been reunited with the love of my life, my beautiful, faithful and devoted wife. Although my time on earth may be through you are still here and you all have work to do. I have made it, but I need to leave this message for you. When your work here is finished and your journey has begun. You will long to hear as do I, well done my good and faithful son.
