COLUMBUS – Amid the most critical workforce shortage in modern history, the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) will host its fifth annual Ohio Manufacturers’ Workforce Summit on Oct. 27 and 28. The summit will be conducted virtually over two half-days to allow for broader statewide participation.
This is Ohio’s most recognized gathering of manufacturers and their workforce suppliers and partners. The theme of this year’s workforce summit is “Attracting the 21st Century Manufacturing Workforce.”
According to OMA President Ryan Augsburger, the event will showcase current practices by Ohio manufacturers and workforce experts that are making a difference in the intense competition for talent.
“Ohio is a national leader in developing manufacturing talent – no other state is doing as much as quickly as the Buckeye State,” Augsburger said. “Because labor availability continues to be among the greatest limiting factors for manufacturers' growth, we want to ensure all manufacturers have the opportunity to benefit from Ohio’s innovative workforce initiatives and strategies. All Ohio manufacturers and their supporters are invited to participate in this event.”
Among the presenters at this year’s summit will be Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, who oversees the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation. Attendees will also hear from nationally recognized manufacturing leaders and their workforce partners, who will provide fresh insights on topics such as:
- Implementing innovative strategies to combat the labor shortage.
- Capitalizing on diversity and inclusion.
- Utilizing military veterans for leadership and experience.
- Recruiting formerly incarcerated individuals as a talent source.
- Boosting retention through best practices.
- Enhancing employee technology skills.
Registration is open to the public at a cost of $110 per participant. To register or for more information, visit OhioMfg.com or call 800-662-4463.
