MOUNT VERNON – James E. Crowl, 76, of Mount Vernon passed away at his residence on Aug. 30, 2021. He was born on July 3, 1945, to James and Babara (Meletic) Crowl in Youngstown.
James was a US Navy Veteran serving as a signalman on the USS Norris. He worked at Rolls Royce as a tool crib attendant until his retirement. James was very active with coaching the Mount Vernon youth baseball league. He was a member of the AMVETS and enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
He is survived by his wife Trudy (Cline) Crowl; his children, James (Brenda) Crowl of Mount Vernon, Cindy (James) Blanchard of Fredericktown, Andy Francis of Mount Vernon, Robin Francis of Mount Vernon, Annette Francis of Mount Vernon, and Grant (Crystal) Smith of Bellville; many grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and extended family.
James was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Angie Whited; granddaughter Whitney Francis; sisters Betsy Millich and June Graffius; and his first wife Betty (Hillock) Crowl.
The family will have a celebration of life at Carpalley’s on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at 6 p.m. with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. Everyone is encouraged to bring a covered dish. Please call 740-507-5005 for questions.
