The Ohio State University Extension County Office is seeking volunteers to train in its Master Gardener Program.

According to a press release, the program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for Ohio residents through their local Ohio State University Extension county office.

Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is essential, the release said.

Class topics will be soil fertility, plant propagation, plant diagnostics, fruit and vegetable gardening, botany and entomology.

Knox County’s Master Gardener program is currently recruiting new members. 2021 training will be eight weeks beginning October through November.

Applications can be downloaded off of the Knox County OSU Extension website at http://knox.osu.edu or by contacting the extension office.

Currently, Knox County has 23 active Master Gardener volunteers..

If you have any further questions, call Sabrina Schirtzinger Knox County OSU agricultural and natural resource extension educator at 740-397-0401 or email schirtzinger.55@osu.edu.
