Knox County Pomona Grange met on Monday, June 21, at Harrison Grange. Master Marie Walker called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

There were 18 members and one guest present. Our guest was Ohio State Grange Secretary Deb Hamilton. She reported that it was her first time to come to Harrison Grange, and she believes she has visited all our granges. As secretary, she is working on the Delegate packets, the grange magazine and rosters.

Sue Roy, the legislative chairperson, reported that she is working on a Zoom meeting with Ohio State Grange Legislative Director Margaret Ann Ruhl in the month of July. We will be talking with Jenny Camper about the legislation we are working on and if this legislation is moving forward in the federal and state governments. We have received a grant from Pharma for $3,000 to help with the cost of this Zoom meeting.

Roy is also working on the convention, which will be held Oct. 1–3 at the Marriott Hotel by Tuttle Mall. Since the convention is condensed, there will be many changes to the schedule, including combining the Juniors and the Youth into working together on their luncheon and presentations. We will have a display at Farm Science Review in September, and we will be at Malabar Farms for Farm Days. Roy plans to have a traveling Sixth Degree around the state in three or four different places. All resolutions need to be in the Ohio State Grange office by Sept. 1.

Mary Jewell, Family Activities chairperson, reported that the county judging will be coming up in August, so have your entries judged at your local granges and bring the winners to Pomona Grange in August.

Bruce Roy, Youth chairperson, reported that he attended the Youth Camp in Hocking Hills with nine youth attending. They did get to tour Old Man's Cave while there. They prepared 50 box lunches for the needy.

Deaf Activities and Membership Chairperson Etta Arnholt had no report.

County Deputy Cindy Campbell reported on the Knox County Fair. On July 17, there will be a car show at the Fair Grounds where we are going to sell pop. The Fair Committee will work that day. There are expected to be approximately 2,400 vehicles at the show. Then there is the actual starting of the fair on July 24, but Campbell is asking the fair booths be in place anytime from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 22. There are many changes for the fair this year, with the 4-H building being redesigned with no booths and more demonstrations. There is expected to be a 4-H project area, king and queen areas, and more demonstrations on how to show different animals at the fair. Campbell reminded us that the domed building was built in 1953 by the granges and is owned by the grange for 4-H use. For the Pomona booth, Campbell wants a picture of each grange and something from that grange to put in the booth.

Cindy Campbell attended the Legislative Conference held on June 12 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Newark. She also attended the Lecture/Community Service morning at the Ohio State Grange office on June 19. All reports and resolutions are due Sept. 1 at the Ohio State Grange or the respective committees. After the meeting and lunch, there was the annual talent contest. Lonnie Totten from Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange sang a solo and earned first place for his division. Cindy Campbell did a reading and was first in her division. Campbell also received first runner-up for best overall.

No old business, but new business was looking for a golf cart to be used at the Knox County Fair.

Lecturer JoAnn Walton presented a memorial service for grange members who passed away this past year. Chaplain Janet White presented flowers and lit a candle in memory of Marvin Moore from Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange; Roy and Helen Green from Harrison Grange; Betty Rinehart from Wayne Grange; Ed Clawson from Middlebury Grange; and Ken Beightol, Don Barrick, Dick Talbott and Ruth Butcher from Morgan Grange. Marie Walker read a poem, "I Have My Lord"; Cathy Morey read John 14:1-2; Terri Moore read Psalm 23; Lonnie Totten read Psalm 121; Mary Jewell read Psalm 125:1-2; Margaret Ann Ruhl read Ecclesiastes 3 and Belinda Litt read "In Memorial." The month of June is also celebrated for Father's Day, Dairy Month and Flag Day. Walton had word searches for each. "Happy Birthday" was sung to Priscilla Arnholt.

The next meeting will be on July 19 at Monroe-Dan Emmett, with ice cream for refreshment. The meeting will be at the picnic shelter starting at 7 p.m.
