Marengo’s Emerson Grassbaugh fired an 8-over 80, improving by six strokes, on the second day of Garsen Golf Shootout, which took place Wednesday and Thursday, June 16-17, at Darby Creek Golf Course in Marysville.
Grassbaugh finished with a 166, 24-over par for the tournament in the 16-18 boys age group. He had one birdie on the day, which came on the par-5 seventh hole.
Hilliard’s Tison Alexander shot a 6-over 150, including a 1-under 71 on the second day to finish first in the 49-player field.
Mount Vernon’s Spencer Hughes shot a 44-over 188 in the 13-15 boys age group to finish 30th out 42 golfers, behind Plain City’s Brady Fox and Dublin’s Christian Bellinger, who each shot a 7-over 51 to lead the way.
Centerburg’s Amaiah Gammell shot a 60-over 204 and Somi Bright followed with an 81-over 225 in the 16-18 girls division, which was won by Orient’s Audrey Keplar, who beat out 13 others with a 5-over 149.
