Morgan Yoder hung up zeros thanks to a one-hitter to lead Griffin Insurance to a 4-0 win over CQ Construction in Mount Vernon Girls Softball League 16U play on Monday, June 14, at Memorial Park.
Yoder struck out 12 batters along the way and Azaya Rine had two hits, including a double, to lead Griffin.
Maddy Costamire was solid in the circle for CQ as well, striking out 13 batters.
Griffin Insurance 17, Ariel 15
A five-run fifth inning ended up being the difference for Griffin Insurance in a 17-15 win over Ariel on Saturday, June 12.
Jace Kyle, Azaya Rine and Kayla Proper had five hits apiece to lead Griffin, which led by as many as 10 runs. Rylei Schulties hit a home run, Proper had three doubles and Rine doubled twice.
Kamryn Ball, Chelsea King and Kylie Stewart had three hits each for Ariel, which rallied for 10 runs in the fifth before falling short. Stewart hit two doubles and a triple, and King homered.
Lady Amvets 14, Griffin Insurance 4
Lady Amvets broke out for 13 runs in the opening frame and rolled to a 14-4 win over Griffin Insurance on Saturday, June 12.
Maddy Tocheff, Kaylynn Ott, Liz Leonard, Kayley Clayton and Ava Pullins had two hits each; and Abby Sapp had four strikeouts to lead Lady Amvets. Leonard hit a home run and a double, and Tocheff and Clayton each doubled.
Team Hope 20, CQ Construction 7
Team Hope jumped out early with an 11-run first inning and cruised to a 20-7 win on Saturday, June 12.
Julia Ellis had four hits, including a double, and Kate Merillat added three hits with a triple to lead Team Hope.
Megan Driggs had three hits for CQ.
Team Hope 2, Griffin Insurance 0
Mykenzie Neitzelt and Bre McClusky combined for a three-hit shutout to lead Team Hope to a 2-0 win over Griffin Insurance on Thursday, June 10.
Neitzelt struck out six batters and McClusky followed with three for Team Hope, which scored both of its runs in the first inning.
Kate Merillat and Julia Ellis had two hits each. Merillat hit a home run, and Sierra Derr hit a double and drove in the other run.
Morgan Yoder struck out seven batters in relief and led Griffin with two hits at the plate.
CQ Construction 14, Ariel 4
CQ Construction plated five runs in the second inning to take the lead for good in a 14-4 win over Ariel on Thursday, June 10.
Lauren Rasko and Emma Scott had three hits apiece to lead CQ. Rasko drove in four runs and Scott added two RBIs.
Chloe Calbert had two hits, including a home run, for Ariel.

Wigal 15, Charlie’s Body Shop 8
Wigal started strong with a six-run first inning and held off Charlie’s Body Shop for a 15-8 win on Monday, June 14.
Riley Johnston struck out four batters in relief and Abby Smithson had two hits, including a double, to lead Wigal.
Rylan Winkler and Jaiah Barnett had two hits each for Charlie’s. Winkler hit a triple and Barnett a double.
Straight A Signs 20, Lady Amvets 9
Straight A Signs scored 10 runs in the first inning and 10 more in the second to roll to a 20-9 win over Lady Amvets on Monday, June 14.
Zoey Neitzelt and Ella Payne had two hits each, and Kenzie Staats struck out five batters to lead Straight A Signs. Both of Neitzelt’s hits were doubles.
Kenlie Moore struck out two batters in the circle and hit a double at the plate for Lady Amvets.
Straight A Signs 16, Wigal Orthodontics 6
Straight A Signs wasted no time with 11 runs in the first inning and rolled to a 16-6 win over Wigal Orthodontics.
Zoey Neitzelt had four hits, Gabby Pelton added three hits, and Kenzie Staats had two hits and two RBIs along with four strikeouts in the circle to pace Straight A Signs.
Cheree Cross had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for Wigal.

Jeld-Wen 8, Alan’s Auto 7
Alan’s Auto scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 7-1 lead. But Jeld-Wen rallied, scoring two in the bottom of the fifth to finish off an 8-7 comeback victory on Saturday, June 12.
Kaylin Peck had three hits, including a pair of doubles, to lead Jeld-Wen. Evie McCann hit a triple and a double, and Victoria Haskins added two doubles.
Audrey Cheng and Samantha Whiting had three hits each for Alan’s. Bailey Styndl hit a home run and Whiting added a double.
Danville Feed & Supply 9, Dugan Energy Partners 6
Danville Feed & Supply rallied for three runs in the fourth inning to take the lead on its way to a 9-6 win over Dugan Energy Partners on Saturday, June 12.
Ali Lannoy, Kaydance Danko and Callie Shultz had three hits each to lead Danville Feed. Lannoy doubled twice, and Danko and Shultz each added a double.
Raelyn Hall, Bailey Barnett, Kaylee Mullins, Cenna Adams and Alyssa Kandel had three hits each for Dugan. Mullins hit a triple, and Hall and Adams each doubled.
Danville Tire & Alignment 9, Holmes Tire 5
Danville Tire & Alignment put together four runs in the first inning and broke out with four more in the third on its way to a 9-5 win over Holmes Tire on Saturday, June 12.
Daisy Cline, Karly Brewer and Peyton Bartok had three hits each to pace Danville Tire. One of Brewer’s hits was a triple.
Cambna Lilly and Raygan Clinedinst had three hits each for Holmes. Summer Lilly hit a triple and Clinedinst added a double.
Prescription Turf Care 15, Central Ohio Pressure Wash 0
Prescription Turf Care scored six runs in each of the first and second innings and cruised to a 15-0 win over Central Ohio Pressure Wash on Saturday, June 12.
Isabella Matheny, Morgan Tocheff, Lexi Horlacher, Brindlee Abruzzesse, Kandance Connor and Ryleigh Canterbury had three hits apiece to pace Prescription. Horlacher and Abruzzesse each hit a home run; and Matheny, Tocheff and Canterbury each had a double.
Dugan Energy 17, Prescription Turf Care 16
Dugan Energy scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to win a 17-16 walk-off slugfest over Prescription Turf Care on Thursday, June 10.
Bailey Barnett and Lecia Clemons had five hits each to pace Dugan. Barnett hit a pair of triples.
Lexi Horlacher had four hits for Prescription, three of them home runs.
Jeld-Wen 23, Holmes Tires 4
Jeld-Wen scored six runs in the first inning and kept adding on in a 23-4 win over Holmes Tires on Thursday, June 10.
Victoria Haskins, Kaylin Peck, Evie McCann, Makenna Walters, Keagan Hartman, Lia Davis and Tinley Boggs each had three hits to pace Jeld-Wen. McCann had a home run, a triple and a double; Boggs hit three doubles; and Hartman and Peck had two doubles each.
Addisyn Beltz had three hits, including a double, for Holmes.

Don White State Farm 7, Danville Veterinary Clinic 1
Don White State Farm broke a 1-1 tie with six runs in the fourth inning in a 7-1 win over Danville Veterinary Clinic on Saturday, June 12.
Emerson Creech struck out eight batters and added a hit to lead Don White.
Star Hoar had nine strikeouts for Danville Vet.
Overhead Door 16, Real Living Home Team 5
Overhead Door scored four runs in the first inning and rolled from there to a 16-5 win over Real Living Home Team on Saturday, June 12.
Holly Hogle had three hits, including a pair of doubles; Haylee Frye hit a home run and Kendall Melton struck out five batters to lead Overhead Door.
Kamille Clindinst hit a triple and Sage Culbertson struck out three batters for Real Living.
