CENTERBURG – Timothy Darrell Steele, 69, of Missoula, Montana (formerly of Centerburg, Ohio), passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at home with family after a long period of illness. He was born on Aug. 13, 1951, in Westerville, Ohio, to Darrell and Virginia (Hendrickson) Steele.
Timothy grew up in Centerburg and graduated in 1969. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army as a radio traffic analyst while stationed in Germany from 1971–1974.
Timothy loved all things nature and the simple things in life. He always preferred to be outdoors, whether it be hiking, hunting or fishing. He cherished his time with family and friends and was always up for taking long drives and listening to music. His love of the outdoors led him to Montana in 1993.
He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his wife, Beverly Steele; daughters, Angela Beck and Amy (Billy) Westfall; sons, Jared (Amanda) Steele, Ryan (Amber) Moore and Tim (Maureen) Moore; sister, Cindy (Jim) Sellers; grandsons, Andrew (Kaitlin) Nichols, Dylan (Shelby) Nichols, Zach and Samuel Westfall, and Liam Steele; two great-grandsons; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Virginia Steele.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held from 5–8 p.m. on Friday, June 18, for family and friends at Porter Township Hall, 12826 McKay St. in Sunbury, Ohio.
