CENTERBURG – After a year-long COVID-19 delay, the Little Miss Liberty and Little Uncle Sammy pageant will return this year on Thursday, June 24, as part of the Heart of Ohio USA Days Festival.
Entrants between the ages of 4 and 6 are now being sought for this year's pageant. Entry forms will be sent home with Centerburg kindergarten and first grade students and will be available at the Centerburg Post Office and at Hometown Market.
The boys and girls will then solicit “votes” at one penny per vote. The highest vote-getters in each category will be crowned by last year’s winners. There are prizes for all entrants.
Funds benefit the USA Days Festival, which has now taken over the pageant as a fundraiser after the local Heart of Ohio Women’s Club disbanded last year.
Winners will be crowned at 7 p.m. on June 24 in Centerburg Memorial Park. All entrants receive prize packages. Winners will ride in the big parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26. They will also ride in the Oldtime Farming Festival in September. The two winners will return in 2022 to crown the new winners.
