DANVILLE – A 44-year-old man was found dead from an apparent suicide in Danville on April 6, a report from the Knox County Sheriff's Office stated.
At around 10:43 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Orange Hill Road near Chapel Road in Danville, according to a report the Mount Vernon News obtained from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.
In the report, Officer Michael Collins said the victim retrieved nylon cord from his vehicle, tied it to a nearby tree and around his neck. The man and his girlfriend had just had a physical altercation.
"A passerby stopped to see if the truck the couple was in was OK," the report continued. The girlfriend, apparently still in the truck when the passerby checked on her, said she was all right and that she and her boyfriend had just had a fight before the victim walked off.
The passerby/caller advised her that there was a man hanging in the tree. The female ran to the man and attempted CPR. Deputies arrived and cut down the victim and advised that there was no pulse. A detective was dispatched as well as the coroner.
The deceased was transported by Snyder Funeral Home.
