GRANVILLE – Charlene Yates, 76, of Granville, passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2021, surrounded by her family.
She attended Bishop Hartley High School, and despite cutting class on at least one occasion to dance in the gym, she graduated in 1962 and began working at Western Electric.
Charlene is survived by Dave Yates, her loving husband of 53 years. They met during high school, and after a few years they got married, bought a home and started a family.
As an avid traveler, Charlene absolutely loved exploring new destinations. She was a lifelong gardener who could identify any variety of plant or flower with ease.
Beloved mother to her son and daughter, she is survived by Brock (Joyce) Yates and Brett (Ben) Jump. She was a devoted grandmother and was known as “Nan” to Davidson and Isabella Jump. The annual family trips to the North Carolina seashore will forever live on in the sweet memories she created with her grandkids.
A private graveside service will be held for the family.
