MOUNT VERNON – Beginning in March 2021, the Knox County Department of Job & Family Services plans to recognize community partners and individuals who assist in reaching its mission of making the lives of children and families better, especially during the last year.
“One of the things that makes Knox County a great place to live and work is how we consistently lift each other up,” Scott Boone, KCDJFS assistant director, said. “We don’t do it for recognition, but an acknowledgement can sometimes go a long way to demonstrate that we are serving in unison with others.”
The first KCDJFS Community Impact Award goes to Mark Maxwell, director of the Knox County Emergency Management Agency.
Maxwell has been integral in Knox County’s fight against COVID-19. His work to secure PPE and other necessary supplies, especially in the early days of the pandemic, were vital not only to Knox County JFS but the whole community. His work with Knox County EMA truly exemplifies service over self in working to make the lives of those in our community better.
