ASHLAND – A grant of $1,231 to Hospice of North Central Ohio (HNCO) will pay for a simple but possibly overlooked personal-care item: razors designed to shave hospice- and other patients.
The Gillete-branded TREO razors are the first razors designed to shave another person, according to a press release from HNCO and Hospice of Knox County.
“They provide a level of safety, control and convenience that will allow HNCO caregivers to better facilitate the special hygiene needs of hospice patients,” the release stated.
The grant is courtesy of The Energy Cooperative Operation Round Up Foundation in Newark and will also fund a supply of bilingual pain boards.
Pain boards are vital for helping patients who cannot talk communicate their pain levels to caregivers. The new boards will assist patients speaking English or Spanish.
“We simply could not purchase these special comfort care items without the generous support of charitable gifts and grants,” Ralph Tomassi, chief development officer at HNCO, said in the press release.
“On behalf of The Energy Cooperative Operation Round Up Foundation, we are pleased to contribute to the caregivers at Hospice of North Central Ohio and Hospice of Knox County,” said Robert “Bob” McGaughy, chair of The Energy Cooperative Operation Round Up Foundation.
Since 1988, Hospice of North Central Ohio has served thousands of families in Knox, Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Morrow and Richland counties who are living with chronic and terminal illnesses. For more information, call 800-952-2207.
