Potential hazards prompt Knox County sheriff to issue a Level 2 Snow Emergency

Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer has issued a Level 2 Snow Emergency for the area.

According to the Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness, a Level 2 emergency indicates roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

National Weather Service out of Cleveland, Ohio, released the following Hazardous Weather Outlook at 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north-central Ohio, northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania, and includes Knox County.

DAY ONE ... Today and tonight.

Temperatures will fall to near or below zero tonight. Light winds at the onset may allow for wind chills below zero early tonight.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN ... Wednesday through Monday.

Another low pressure system will move through the eastern United States from Wednesday night through Friday morning, bringing

accumulating snowfall to the forecast area.
