Althea Hookway was identified as the subject of this Historic Photo that ran on Nov. 7, 2020, by both Dorothy Rex and Martha Stuller. Each shared that Hookway lived on East Gambier Street and had a large collection of antiques. Rex specified she believed the house was called “The Railroad House” and that Hookway, beyond being a mother of three and Mulberry Street UMC attendee, was well-known for being eloquent and well-informed on a wide range of subjects. She shared that Hookway would serve as a substitute teacher part-time at the local schools as well as the occasional guest speaker — once giving a lecture to Rex’s OSU Extension Office home economics classes on different kinds of glass and china.
