Door 142 in Fredericktown is still doing everything they can to serve customers great food during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rachel Mackall, the owner of Door 142, told the Mount Vernon News that the restaurant had it’s six-year anniversary on Valentine’s Day. The pandemic has cut down on some of what they can do for their customers, but their chef is still creating the same kinds of original, unique dishes they proudly served before the pandemic.
“We’re at half capacity, and we’re doing takeout,” Mackall said.
Yet, even with offering a takeout option, she noted that Door 142 is still facing an approximate 25% reduction in business since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.
In addition to reducing dining capacity, Door 142 has also had to cut hours, though they are trying to remain open for their customers as much as they can.
“We’re open as long as the governor will allow us to be open,” Mackall said.
Door 142 is open every day except Sunday and Monday, with service starting at 11 a.m. Last call has been at 9:30 p.m. due to restrictions, and the doors close at 10 p.m.
Although Gov. Mike Dewine’s most recent curfew has expired, Mackall said that they are still “playing it by ear.” If she has a lot of customers, the restaurant will stay open as late as current restrictions permit to keep serving them, but otherwise they will continue to close at 10 p.m.
The kitchen closes at 8 p.m. during the week but stays open until 8:30 p.m. on weekends, she said.

Mackall said that their burgers and steaks are popular choices, as well as their cod. The cod is a particularly unique dish.
“It’s a potato-crusted cod with a Parmesan cheese sauce,” she said. “You can’t find it anywhere else. It’s one of our best sellers.”
