FREDERICKTOWN – Barbara J. Radel, 90, of Fredericktown, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 12, 1930, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of John and Maria (Dalrymple) Baker.

Barbara was a 1948 graduate of Fredericktown High School, where she was a member of the first class of the National Honor Society. She previously worked for the Village of Fredericktown and served as the secretary/treasurer of the Fredericktown Emergency Squad. 

Barbara was a member of the Palmyra Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Singing Trio. She also served on the Tomato Show Board. Barbara enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, playing euchre with family and friends, and gardening — especially those lima beans. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who always treasured her quality time with family. 

She is survived by her husband, Clifford Eugene Radel, whom she married on Sept. 18, 1987; her children, Dan Clutter of Fredericktown and Jennifer (Max) Huffman of Fredericktown; stepchildren, Jeff (Teresa) Radel of Fredericktown, Jonette (Gene) Curry of Mount Vernon and Jennifer Long of Fredericktown; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, Kamdyn, Karsyn, Burkleigh, Greysyn, Myla, Tanner, Benton, Emma, Ellie, Everlee, Elizabeth, Barrett, Cooper, Hadley, Callan, Rylan and Nash; and a brother, Roger Baker of Springfield.

Besides her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Forrest Clutter (1975); a son, Timmy Clutter (1970); and siblings, Carl Baker and Eileen Baker.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Forest Cemetery with Evangelist Troy Northrop officiating.

Memorial contributions in Barb’s name may be made to the Palmyra Church of Christ or Hospice of Knox County.
