MOUNT VERNON – On Jan. 17, 2021, Darlene O. Loriaux left the Mount Vernon Health and Rehabilitation Center for her heavenly home. She was 93 years old.
Darlene was born in Ashland, Ohio, on Aug. 10, 1927, the daughter of Thomas and Winifred (Devore) Walker. She graduated from Utica High School but lived most of her life in Knox County.
Darlene was a golfer and loved everything about the game, especially spending time at Irish Hills Golf Course. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, but her true sport passion was following her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's sporting activities. She attended every event possible. Football, basketball, baseball, track and soccer, she was always there to support and cheer for them.
Spending time with her family was the most important thing to Darlene.
She is survived by her daughter, Cherryl Pursel; three granddaughters, Jodi Pursel, Anne Marie Orr and Heidi (Bill) Hanna, all of Knox County; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Clinedinst, Kyle Clinedinst, J.D. Orr, Nate Orr, Mack Hanna and Macy Hanna; and seven great-grandchildren. All of these were truly her pride and joy. She is also survived by a beloved niece, Terry Vaughan of Lakeland, Florida, as well as several great-nieces and nephews. Darlene and her little dog, Josie, were perfect companions.
Besides her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Walker; and three sisters, Ouida Walker, Edythe Ferris and Chloris Fritz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Camille "Hank" Loriaux.
