EDISON – Mary (Snow) Wright, 72, of Edison, passed away at her home on Friday morning, Nov. 20, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Mount Vernon on Jan. 10, 1948, to the late Lawrence and Helen “Caroline” (Still) Snow.
Mary graduated from Mount Vernon High School in the Class of 1966. On Jan. 28, 1967, she married the love of her life, Carl Wright, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. They shared over 53 loving years together as husband and wife.
First and foremost, Mary was a loving homemaker and mom. She also worked outside of the home as a machine operator at Cosmo Plastics in Mount Gilead and then in housekeeping and the kitchen at the Morrow County Hospital. A woman of faith, Mary was a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church.
In her younger years, Mary enjoyed bowling in leagues and fishing in nearby ponds. She enjoyed harness racing and watching her dad race at Scioto Downs. She always loved playing bingo and spades and making trips to the casino to play the penny slots. In everything she did, she was extremely competitive and never liked to lose.
Mary was a big Ohio State fan. She also liked spending time with her Shih Tzu’s. Above all, Mary was a family woman. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and always loved going to their baseball and softball games.
Mary will be dearly missed by her husband, Carl, of Edison; her three children, Carla (Rick) Moodispaugh of Cardington, Joseph (Abby) Wright of Mount Gilead and Travis (April) Wright of Fredericktown; 10 grandchildren, Erika (Ed) McCants, Laura (Keith) Marcum, Sarah Moodispaugh, Kyle Wright, Joshua Wright, Ashten Smith, Treah (Haley) Wright, Mckayla Wright, Andrew Wright and Aliza Wright; five great-grandchildren, Landin McCune, Lexi McCants, Ashton Marcum, Addilynne Marcum and Brantley Wright; a brother, Lawrence (Suzie) Snow of Mount Vernon; and a sister-in-law, Linda Zimmerman of Mount Gilead.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Private family services will be held with the Rev. Don Mann officiating, followed by burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
