Question: Can you start by telling me a bit about your business?

Answer: Sure. I am an herbalist who creates herbal medicines from locally harvested or organically grown herbs by either myself or small family farms around the country. I also provide one-on-one consultations, group sessions and classes that focus on nutrition, ethical and sustainable foraging, and returning to a more holistic way of living. All virtual at the moment.

Question: What made you decide to start doing this?

Answer: Working with plants is written in my DNA. I feel very deep connections with my German ancestors. I can envision myself walking beside them as they forage for herbs and mushrooms in the forests of Germany. My mother actually confirmed this— her mother used to make elderflower wine and gather wild mushrooms.

I’ve always felt an affinity for plants. As a child I would mix up potions with clovers and plantain flower heads. Over the past twenty years I’ve deepened my relationship with the Earth and her medicine.

Question: What would you say is your bestselling product/service right now?

Answer: My bestselling product changes with the seasons as I only work with what is in season for the most part, but I would say my Sunny tincture at the moment. Sunny tincture is summer and sunshine embodied. Crafted with local and organic St. John’s wort flowers, lemon balm and mimosa blossoms, the synergy of these herbs provide uplifting light for when you need a hand.

As far as my service goes, my Herbal Hearth & Home program— it’s a year long course about herbalism, kitchen medicine and the cycle of the seasons.

Question: If you could tell the citizens of Mount Vernon one thing about your work, what would it be?

Answer: Well, I’m super new to the area, and moving into a new town during a pandemic has proven interesting to say the least. But I guess I would love for everyone to know that I love helping people. The way I practice herbalism is to empower you to tap into your own inner herbalist.
