Webp meeting 04

Wayne Grange met on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. We met at the grange hall and had 15 members, 1 guest and 2 children present for the meeting. Master Jordan Miller called the meeting to order.

Installation of officers was conducted by Beverly Edwards. Installed as the new officers for this coming year are Jordan Miller, Master; Sarah Howard, Overseer; Diane Cole, Lecturer; David Morey, Steward; Skip Edwards, Assistant Steward; Belinda Litt, Lady Assistant Steward; Elaine Hillier, Chaplin; John Beutel, Gatekeeper; David Dalrymple, Treasurer; Cathy Morey, Secretary; Terri Moore, Ceres; Connie Sherman, Pomona; Heather Miller, Flora; Tom Howard, Ed Moore & Matt Moore, Executive Committee and Mary Braddock, Musician.

Legislative Chairman Jordan Miller reminded everyone that now is the time to tend to all trees, fruits and plants. This gets them ready for winter and will start them with the growing season. It was noted that the Farm Science Review will be virtual this year.

Community Service Chairperson, Margaret Ann Ruhl thanked everyone for their help with the Fredericktown Farmers Market. We have some money to help the non-profits this year and we will be handing out suggested organizations of need of our funds at the next meeting. Ruhl also mentioned the Exchange Club is hosting a Healing Field again this year. It will be at Ariel Foundation Park on October 16 to October 19. To purchase your own flag, you can contact any Exchange member or Ruhl with the cost of a flag being $40.00.

As Wayne Grange's news reporter, Margaret Ann Ruhl asked if there was any place other than the Mount Vernon News to put our club report. It was suggested into Facebook and maybe KnoxPages.

The Stauffer's that live next to the grange property asked if they could park two semi trailers in the yard to try to sell. They no longer have use of these vehicles and we have a good yard to park them. No problem with the grange members.

Lecturer Dee Cole had a reading of what the teaching was like in the 1920's in Wisconsin. Cole also read Reap the Harvest. Last we did an exercise of making a circle clock wise with your foot and see if you can continue to move your foot as you draw a number six with your hand. Amazing that your foot will reverse.

Treasurer David Dalrymple reported what we had in a safety deposit box. Mainly insurance papers and no money!

Master Jordan Miller reported that there will not be an Annual Corn Show in November, due to COVID. Miller will text everyone of the Officer's meeting in October. It will be held at Ed & Terri Moore's house. Miller also announce that the annual Heart of Ohio tour will be a drive by if they have it at all.

Knox County Pomona Grange will be Monday, September 21 at Monroe-Dan Emmett Grange. It will be at 7:00 p.m. and there will be installation of officers.

Dave Daniels called Dee Cole and talked about having something for the Veterans of Knox County. Daniels thought with the extra money not going to the Ohio State Grange for dues, maybe use that money for honoring our veterans. More at the next meeting.

Elaine Hillier reported on Shirley Hughes. Hughes is getting better as she is fighting blood clots. Cathy Morey reported that she visited her mother, Esther Balcom at Ohio Eastern Star for about 20 minutes since March with the closing of visitors to the facility. Joan Burch will be celebrating her 90th birthday on September 26. Cards can be sent to Ohio Eastern Star, 1451 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon.

Belinda Litt announced that she had the schedule for the Wayne Grange Women's Auxiliary. She needs people to sign up for hosting the luncheons. They can be at your house or at the Grange Hall or at a restaurant.

Bev Edwards announced that the dictionaries for the 3rd grader at Fredericktown, should be delivered before the next meeting.

Wayne Grange's next meeting will be Friday, October 16 with a meeting at 7:00 p.m. There will be a costume contest for Halloween.
