American Values
To the Editor,
HOWARD, Ohio – When students are in high school government classes, they learn about basic values shared by Americans— that is a part of what makes America great.
We as a people believe in liberty, including that people should be able to express their views openly as a part of their First Amendment rights of freedom of speech, press, assembly, petition and religion.
We as a people believe in equality, that everyone has these rights.
We believe in justice and the rule of law, in voting and democracy, in individualism and property ownership, and in patriotism.
We may interpret these beliefs somewhat differently, but fundamentally these are our shared values as a people. Our neighbors have these rights as well as we do. Yet Trump and Biden signs and flags are being stolen and vandalized frequently. When someone chooses to do this, they are not only breaking the law, they are violating the rights of the property owner and doing an enormous and deeper harm to our shared values as Americans. And they risk getting hurt themselves.

Pushed to the Brink
To the editor:
MARENGO, Ohio – Democrats just will not accept Trump as the 45th President. Their deep and childish hatred of one man is pushing America to the brink.
Jill Grubb's rhetoric, for example, to blatantly state falsely that Trump voters are "threatening" to society is absurd.
Republicans are not the gang looting, burning and rioting all summer. These are Harris-Biden supporters. Just look at the newscast of these riots. These anarchists are mainly well-off, white, college-age basement dwellers, with some token BLM losers. They ain't wearing MAGA hats.
Sadly, an Ohio-born basketball phenom recently opined that young black men are being "hunted" by white people. Nice. This guy is a role model? Right on cue, a young black male cowardly shoots two white cops who were just sitting in their car. This was in VP wannabe Kamala Harris' home state. No word yet from her on the officers' conditions. Strange, how she went to Kenosha, Wisconsin to comfort and praise a known felon.
Why was America great when 'Bama-Biden ran it into the ground but now we need a third Civil War to save it? We lost an ambassador and three others and traded five top terrorists from Gitmo for a deserter, and Biden-'Bama got re-elected. Trump re-builds our military, world standing and economy and gets impeached. Huh? Wake up, America!
Damn near every job I had I was a proud union man. Hell, I voted for John Kerry in 2004. But not all unions are good. For years our colleges have been taken over by far-left academia using Marxist ideology to corrupt our young. Now these radicals have infected the K-12 teachers union. Kids aren't taught much, if any, U.S. history now, and in cities like Baltimore most can't read if and when they do graduate.
Anyone in Dan Emmett School ever heard of the "1619 Project?" It's Barack 'Bama's version of U.S. History, coming soon to a school near you. Who decides what is taught in our public schools? Doesn't matter. Trump's going to fix it all in his next term. And... All Lives Matter!

Think Objectively
To the editor:
MOUNT VERNON – As a moderate Republican voter, I am prone to listen to the issues and concerns that affect both sides of the aisle. One of the things a person learns in a debate class is to objectively consider whether there is any truth in the opponent's presentation. Too many politicians hastily omit that very important step!
Unfortunately, today we live in a media-driven society where Democrats and Republicans are almost totally polarized. If a space alien were to observe us, he or she would think that each party should live on a different planet. Also, there are too many politicians guilty of poltophagy (the act of compulsive stirring) like stirring up old worn out political issues— or poltophagy can be (compulsive chewing) like chewing the fat over old political gossip. At any rate, as actor Strother Martin said in the movie "Cool Hand Luke," "What we have here is a failure to communicate"— nationally.
So voting in a national election should be a two-step process. First and foremost, a voter should consider whether his or her core values are basically expressed in the party platform and whether the party's economic steps have promoted national prosperity as well as local prosperity. Secondly, and only now should a vote be free to consider the people running, what are their contributions, and what is their vision for America's future?
Finally, then, I am going to vote Republican because of the good economic improvements CEOs provided and the strong economic messaging expressed by most Republican candidates down-ballot. However, we must moderate how much zeal we have for the national work engines; because Ayn Rand, who in writing "Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged" nearly idolized big business, fell victim to extreme poverty and wound up on public dole! As for Donald Trump, he has been a good shepherd economically for America and has contributed much we can see, and more we cannot see that is classified. Joe Biden is a great dude, but his passion for the Resolute Desk has only just come lately. He should have run in 2016.

Lies
To the editor:
CENTERBURG, Ohio – Are we sick of politicians shouting "LIAR"? The real truth is hard to discern with media platforms censoring conservatives. Free speech is dying. Fortunately, several big lies have now been proven.
First, take "RUSSIA" supposedly helping Donald Trump get elected. After many months of investigations and millions of tax dollars, no evidence of "collusion" by the Trump campaign. The democrats (DNC), however, spent several million "colluding" with a disgraced British spy (Steele) to produce the false dossier. Investigations continue.
Communists advocate seizing power through lies, violence, hatred and societal breakdown. One technique is to "call your enemy what you yourself really are." And like Goebbels (Hitler's propagandist), Lenin also proclaimed, "Tell a lie, the biggest lie possible, and keep repeating it until people believe it."
Take democrats' allegations that the president is "fascist, racist, sexist, xenophobic, a threat to democracy...." His policies have shown the opposite: Free enterprise capitalism (not fascism) unleashed record all-time employment rates and rising incomes for low earners; including all races, ages and women, before the pandemic. Trump's (Black) HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson's free enterprise zones in poor neighborhoods gave disadvantaged people a shot at the American dream. What a tragedy BLM/ANTIFA rioters burned and looted businesses, even murdering a (Black) ex-police chief (Dorn) trying to defend his friend's business. BLM alleges they are pro-Black, anti-police-brutality; but their goals are anti-family, anti-private property, atheism and power. (NOTE: The BLM website affirming these goals has recently been taken down! More deception...) We must preserve our beloved USA where free citizens' votes count.
