Saturday, Sept. 19

In support of the former and current foster youth, the Northeast Ohio Adoption Services (NOAS) is encouraging everyone to participate in the inaugural Virtual Do It For The Kids - Run/Bike/Walk. The activity can be done anytime and anywhere safe to run, bike or walk; but following proper social distancing. Individual registration costs $20, $50 for family and $100 for business/group over 10. Monday, Sept. 22

Knox County Swim Club skills assessment will be held on Monday and Wednesday. Offered by The YMCA of Mount Vernon, the club is open to 3rd-8th graders looking to increase fundamental swimming skills. The prerequisites for this program are for the swimmer to be able to swim 50 meters (the length of the pool down and back) with basic over-arm stroke and rotary breathing. Once assessed, swimmers can register for the program. The club will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays and participants can choose to join one of two time slots at either 4:45-5:45 p.m. or 5:45-6:45 p.m. The monthly cost (8 sessions) is $60 for YMCA Members and $100 for Non-Members.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology and the Public Library of Mount Vernon will host The Works@Home, a program to help families keep learning while staying at home. Works@Home mini-kits are free and available at the front of The Public Library of Mount Vernon. Other in-depth and affordable kits are available at www.attheworks.org/summer.

A Fall Equinox Labyrinth Stroll will be held at the Kokosing Gap Trail Parking Lot to celebrate the first day of autumn. Individuals, groups or families can join but are required to observe social distancing.

The YMCA in Mount Vernon is offering a Fall Pool Party for kids and families. This event is open to all community members. If you are a member this is FREE and non-members will pay a $5 guest pass or $20 family facility pass. We will have pumpkins, music, prizes and all the fall festivities! To ensure the safest possible atmosphere, we do have limited spots and registration is required by calling the YMCA front desk at 740-392-9622.

Knox Foodies is hosting a Food Truck Rally in collaboration with Central Ohio Food Truck Association (COFTA) and Ariel-Foundation Park. The event will feature up to 20 food trucks from Knox and surrounding counties. Customers will need to order either online on your computer/laptop (www.streetfoodfinder.com/ArielFoundationPark) or through the Street Food Finder app on your phone/tablet. Pre-ordering can begin four days in advance of the event but no later than 45 minutes in advance.

The Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival invites creative individuals who can develop life-size and ghost-like figures with flowing gowns made from chicken wire to join the Halloween Hootenanny.
