MOUNT VERNON — Some are called to preach the Gospel. Others are called to be patrons of the Gospel. John Rinehart, author of “Gospel Patrons” and “Giving Together,” will speak at Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Thursday, Feb. 6, to share a message of how generosity can impact God’s kingdom.
“John Rinehart and Gospel Patrons are inspiring a generation of leaders toward intentional, Gospel-focused generosity,” said Kelly Rush, associate professor of finance. “It is an honor to be able to have them on our campus to cast a vision of the awesome ways the Lord can use each of use to advance the message of Jesus.”
Rinehart’s mission is to facilitate generosity among believers by providing the tools and means to enrich God’s kingdom.
“Generous business people have fueled the spread of the Gospel throughout history,” said Rinehart. “This is how God works. When he raises up someone to proclaim the Gospel, he raises up someone to be a patron of the Gospel. Someone’s going to speak; someone is going to send; someone is going to go; and someone is going to give. But they all are partners. They work together in the same body and same mission.”
The evening will include stories of historic business leaders who were active behind the scenes of fueling amazing movements of God, as well as short films highlighting modern-day Gospel Patrons.
The event, from 7-9 p.m., in Foster Hall at Ariel Arena, is free and open to the public, however, registration is requested. To register, visit www.mvnu.edu/events/gospel-patrons.
