Kokosing River Productions Wins Silver Telly

New York, NY – Marking its 40th anniversary as the world’s largest honor for video and television content across all screens, The Telly Awards announced this year’s winners, including Kokosing River Productions’ (KRP) brand content web series Shop With the Doc for Dr. Elena Christofides, world-renowned endocrinologist of Columbus. This is the 14th Telly and first Silver Telly for the Mount Vernon-based company.

“We suspected that this series would play well and reach a wide audience,” said KRP’s development director, Anne Marie Orr. “Developing and maintaining healthy habits are always something that people want to know more about. We were able to offer a slick yet approachable message that is gaining ground for people looking to make lifestyle changes to become healthier.”

Christofides, a board-certified endocrinologist in Columbus, speaks and writes extensively on diabetes, nutrition and obesity. She, too, was thrilled with the recognition and recounted how she came up with the idea.

“I was having a conversation with one of my patients years ago who told me that he wished that he could take me grocery shopping with him,” said Christofides. “I finally decided it was time to create a patient-friendly resource for the grocery store.

“The videos are arranged so that they work well with the website and offer practical information about what foods are ‘Doctor Approved,’ ‘Use with Caution,’ and ‘Foods to Avoid,’” Christofides explained. “I really wanted to create a user-friendly set of videos that were quick and clear on how to make better food choices that are endocrinologist-approved.”

Recognition by the Telly Awards is one of the industry standards that both Christofides and Starr are thrilled with because of the strict production standards they require for recognition.

“We are working on a cookbook of ‘Doctor Approved’ recipes,” said Christofides. “After that, we are thinking about doing a cooking show and possibly a documentary on the school lunch program.”

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honors video and television made for all screens and is judged by The Telly Award Judging Council; a group of leading video and television experts from some of the most prestigious companies in entertainment, publishing, advertising, and emerging technology.
