Mount Gilead 65, Northmor 63. Matt Bland of Mount Gilead (7-6, 5-3) and Grant Bentley of Northmor (7-6, 5-3) battled in a shootout on Jan. 13, in which the Indians squeaked by with a 65-63 win thanks to a last second clutch shot by Aaron Gannon.

Danville (5-7, 3-5) had three players in double figures led by Ella Proper’s 16 points, to fuel an upset comeback 43-34 win over Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC)-leading Mount Gilead (11-2, 6-1) on Jan. 11, handing the Indians their first KMAC loss of the season.

Mount Gilead 61, Danville 59. Matthew Bland had a hot hand from deep and showed why he is one of the top players in KMAC this season, with a 27-point performance to lead Mount Gilead (6-6, 4-3) to a 61-59 win in a see-saw battle with Danville (4-7, 1-5) on Jan. 10.

Madison Comprehensive 59, Mount Vernon 54. Mount Vernon (4-3, 2-3) had a big night from Hudson Rohler against Madison Comprehensive (5-3, 2-2) last week, and despite a solid showing the Yellow Jackets took a five-point loss, 59-54.

Danville 53, Northridge 51. Danville (3-3, 1-2) and Northridge (3-5, 2-4) battled it out until the end with a fourth-quarter shootout, and Jaylyn Workman was able to make some timely free throws down the stretch to help seal a 53-51 win for the Blue Devils on Dec. 20.
