Lexington High School was well represented at this year’s Ohio Cardinal Conference cross country meet, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams winning conference titles.

Ashland (5-4, 3-3) took it to Ohio Cardinal Conference rival Wooster (2-7, 1-6) on Friday night, handing the Generals their fifth straight loss in a 34-0 blowout led by a three touchdown effort by running back Cayden Spotts.

West Holmes (6-2, 4-1) has been an offensive juggernaut this season averaging 40 points per game, but last week against Ashland it took strong defense and a consistent running game to take a 20-6 win over the Arrows. (4-4, 2-3).

Ashland (4-2, 2-2) dominated Madison Comprehensive (1-5, 1-3) in a sweep victory for the Arrows at home in an OCC matchup.

Fueled by a big senior class on the 2022 Ashland squad, the Arrows finished last season with a 6-5 overall record and were 4-2 in OCC play. They ended the OCC season with a win over Lexington, and closed out the year with a playoff loss to Central Catholic.

Eight Ohio Cardinal Conference football teams have games scheduled this week.

Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets(1-0) and seven other Ohio Cardinal Conference football teams are scheduled to play this week.

The Ashland Arrows (6-5) start the season against the River Valley Vikings (5-6) on Aug. 18 at Ashland HS.
