The City of Mount Vernon announced that the next installment of The Washington Forum will take place on Wednesday, May 27, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at The Gathering Place, located at 425 South Edgewood Road in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

This month's theme is "Home of the Brave: Stories of Heroes Next Door" and will spotlight the courage, resiliency, and service of everyday heroes who protect and care for the community. Representatives from the Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon Fire Department, the Mount Vernon Association of Police Chaplains, Knox Public Health, and other frontline leaders are scheduled to share stories of sacrifice, strength, and hope.

According to the event announcement, attendees will have an opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from those who serve on the front lines. The forum aims to inspire participants by highlighting individuals who make a difference every day in their neighborhoods.

The Washington Forum is a yearlong civic engagement series presented by the City of Mount Vernon in partnership with Kenyon College’s Center for the Study of American Democracy as part of America 250 programming.
