The Repair Cafe of Knox County Ohio will hold its next quarterly event on Saturday, May 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the church office basement hall of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located at the corner of Gay and High streets in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

According to organizer Mark Tillack, "Everyone is welcome and it's always free!" The event invites community members to bring any item that needs repair—ranging from fans and lights to computers, chairs, crock pots, and even shoes—for volunteers to attempt repairs at no charge. "Bring any item you need repaired that would usually get thrown away and volunteers will give it their best shot toward getting it working again at NO CHARGE! Give your broken things a new life! Too many things get thrown out when they can easily be repaired. Feel good about helping the Earth!!" Tillack said.

Tillack said he has received many calls following articles written about Repair Cafe both locally and nationally, mentioning that Reader's Digest recently featured Repair Cafe in an article.

The event is open to all ages, with younger visitors encouraged to watch the repair process. Attendees are also invited to make voluntary donations to help cover costs for printing, snacks, and supplies. Local businesses offering repair services are welcome to volunteer and may distribute business cards or direct attendees for further services.

Repair Café originated in the Netherlands and has since spread worldwide as a way for neighbors to help each other save money while reducing landfill waste. More information can be found on the organization's website.
