Knox Public Health is alerting residents that an impostor has been visiting homes in Knox County, falsely claiming to be a department employee and attempting to discuss retirement benefits or Medicare.
The department has received multiple reports of this individual approaching households under the guise of official business. Officials emphasize that Knox Public Health does not send staff to homes unannounced. All legitimate employees carry official photo ID badges, and the department never asks for personal, financial, or Medicare information at residents’ doors.
Community members are urged to remain cautious.
"And if someone comes to your home making these claims, do NOT provide any information," the department warned. "Call the police immediately to report the incident."
